REPORTS
President/VP Reports– President Murray and Vice President McIntosh shared their October work out in locals.
NEA Director Report- Director Paul Guess highlighted lobbying efforts and board business from NEA Superweek.
Executive Director Report– DeeAnn Aull reported to the Board several state policy wins around increasing classroom experience for principals and maintaining/improving student:adult ratios for counselors, librarians, and pre-K class sizes. The number of public comments received by DESE had a significant impact on the MSIP 6 rules. ED Aull shared that MNEA’s EdRising program is growing and the regional Educators Rising conferences were very successful. National Board Certification trainings have been well attended and the Reach Out training for local organizing is continuing to show strong growth. We expect attendance at the Beginning Teacher Assistance trainings to increase in 2019-2020.
Manager Reports– Pam Koetting, Association Manager, reported on Member Benefit activities during Back to School, Degrees Not Debt workshops during October, and ongoing planning with the Member Benefits and NEA Convention Committees. Field Managers Patrick Layden and Chas Young reported on membership work and advocacy efforts around the state.

- Board members voted on nominees for the Shirley Cromer Leadership Award and approved Public Relations grant requests.
- Melissa Albright and Otto Fajen presented amendments to the 2019-2020 Legislative Platform and answered Board member questions.
- The Board recommended the Legislative Platform, Constitution Amendments, Standing Rules revisions, and the 3-1(g) Ethnic-Minority involvement plan to the delegates at the Fall Representative Assembly.
